Boston: Thomas Fleet, 1719. Also known as Mother Goose’s Melodies, the book is a collection of then already well-known children’s songs that the publisher’s mother, Elizabeth Vergoose, is said to have sung to her children and grandchildren. No copy of the original volume is known to exist today.
